Colm MacConiomaire was born into an Irish-speaking musical family in Dublin in 1971.  He started taking classical violin lessons when he was only 6 years old and has learnt both tradional and classical violin.

In 1985, Colm started a school band along with fellow class mates Rossa and Eoin called Kila. They started busking on Grafton Street and it was there that they met Glen Hansard of the Frames. Colm then took a year off college and joined a band called The Frames and that was the beginning....

Colm is currently playing with the Swell Season, the band of Glen Hansard (of the Frames) and Marketa Irglova.

As a solo artist, Colm released his debut album The Hares Corner. A beautifully warm and visual album of instrumental songs. the Hares Corner highlights the reflective, contemplative side of Colm Mac Con Iomaire, giving time and space for his compositions to grow and develop i n a seductively enticing and cinematic way.
